Scottish Arts & Crafts inlaid oak sideboard
Scottish Arts & Crafts inlaid oak sideboard, Ernest Archibald Taylor, Circa 1901, branded on the back ''Design 3512 / 2902 / 1'', locks stamped ''RC & S'' and one ''VR'' beneath a crown, the other ''Secure Lever''. The paneled back is inlaid with knights on horseback on a shore before a castle, above a narrow shelf, with stylized flower cut-outs to sides, and outset base with canted sides fitted with two drawers over a cubbyhole flanked by a pair of paneled doors decorated with galleons, on square legs. The pediment caps on the four uprights were missing and have been replaced using slow-growth white oak. The case has been reglued and the exterior of the sideboard refinished.
