Custom solid Oak Moushole or Keyhole Coffee table with keyed thru tenons and lower shelf. Our custom solid Oak "Mousehole" or "Keyhole" coffee table was inspired by the original vintage "L.& J.G. Stickley" library table circa early 1900's. The extra wide, hand-selected slow growth quarter-sawn white oak boards in the top are constructed with a splined top for improved strength due to the increased glue surface. The pair of lower stretchers are mortised through the sides and held in place with four shaped keys. We used difficult to locate, appropriate wide boards, (lower grade, narrow boards often used today, give pieces, especially tops, a busy appearance and was a sign of lower quality Mission Oak furniture during the period). A sweet and dramatic form, with a simultaneous strong appearance due to the substantial dimensions of the wood. A very functional form with the addition of the lower shelf for storage of reading material. The table shown is 18" tall, 48" long by 24" wide, though tables are available in custom sizes and various woods such as cherry, walnut, mahogany and more. This coffee table is available with or without the lower shelf, also in different sizes, stain colors and woods.
